Hand-crafted original
Guild shields served a civic rather than martial function, marking the premises of a trade and affirming its standing within the town. This Apothecary Guild Shield presents a crowned serpent flanked by apothecary implements on a rich red field, reflecting the visual language associated with the KCD source material.
Built from two-layer plywood, this shield is faced with linen, finished with gesso, and hand-painted in a bold guild device. The painted surface is then oiled for added water repellency while preserving the character of the finish. The rim is bound in undyed leather, and the reverse is fitted with a broad thumbhole grip in keeping with the practical handling of a civic display shield. Every detail is executed with close attention to the appearance and character of the period-inspired original.
