1 About Us

Shieldwright is an independent artisan workshop and trading name operating under Polish law, with my workshop and registered address at ul. Bitwy Białostockiej 26, 15-103 Białystok, Poland.

I specialise in handcrafted decorative shields made to exacting standards.

2 Acceptance of Terms

By accessing this website, placing an order, or engaging my commission services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and that you accept these Terms & Conditions in full. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use this website or services.

Important

These terms form the entire agreement between you and Shieldwright. No other terms — whether stated verbally or implied — shall form part of any contract unless expressly confirmed in writing by Shieldwright.

3 Products & Descriptions

Every shield and piece sold by Shieldwright is handcrafted; accordingly, minor variations in grain, colour, finish, and dimension are inherent to the nature of the work and do not constitute defects.

I make every reasonable effort to ensure that product descriptions, specifications, and photography on this website are accurate and up to date. However:

  • Colours may appear differently depending on your screen calibration.
  • Weights and dimensions given are nominal and may vary by ±5% from piece to piece.
  • Historical period references are provided for educational context and are not warranties of archaeological authenticity unless explicitly stated in writing.
  • I reserve the right to modify product specifications without prior notice, provided the substitution is of equal or greater quality.

4 Orders & Contract

Placing an Order

An order placed through this website constitutes an offer to purchase. No binding contract is formed until I send you an order confirmation email. I reserve the right to decline any order at my discretion, for example if a product is no longer available or if I suspect fraudulent activity.

Order Amendments

Amendments to standard (non-bespoke) orders may be accepted if requested within 24 hours of placing the order, provided production has not yet commenced. Please contact me at info@shieldwright.eu as soon as possible.

Cancellations

You may cancel a standard order within 14 days of receipt under applicable consumer protection law. Bespoke and commission work is subject to separate cancellation terms set out in section 8.

5 Pricing & Payment

All prices shown on the website include VAT where applicable. Prices do not include delivery charges, which are calculated at checkout.

I accept Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal. Payment is taken in full at the time of ordering. For bespoke commissions, a non-refundable deposit of 50% is payable upon agreement of the commission brief, with the balance due prior to dispatch.

International Orders

Customers outside the European Union are responsible for any import duties, customs fees, or local taxes applicable in their country. These charges are not included in my prices and will not be refunded.

6 Shipping & Delivery

Standard production and dispatch times are stated on each product page and at checkout. All shields are made to order; typical lead times range from 4 to 8 weeks depending on the piece and current workshop capacity.

  • Poland: delivery via specialist courier; typically 2–3 working days from dispatch.
  • European Union: 5–10 working days from dispatch.
  • Rest of World: 10–21 working days from dispatch.

Dispatch estimates are given in good faith but are not guaranteed. Shieldwright shall not be liable for delays caused by third-party carriers, customs procedures, force majeure, or other circumstances beyond my reasonable control.

Risk in the goods passes to you upon delivery. Title passes upon receipt of full payment.

7 Returns & Refunds

Statutory Right to Return

Under applicable consumer protection law, you have the right to cancel your order and return standard (non-bespoke) goods within 14 days of the day you receive them, without providing a reason.

To exercise this right, notify me in writing at info@shieldwright.eu before the 14-day period expires. You must then return the goods within a further 14 days.

Condition of Returned Goods

Returned items must be in their original, unused condition with all original packaging. You are responsible for the cost and safe return of goods unless the item is faulty or was sent in error. I strongly recommend using an insured, trackable service.

Refunds

Once I receive and inspect the returned goods, I will process your refund within 14 days to your original payment method. I reserve the right to make a deduction for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to inspect the item.

Faulty or Damaged Goods

If your item arrives damaged or develops a manufacturing fault within 6 months of delivery, please contact me with photographs and a description of the issue. I will arrange repair, replacement, or a full refund at no cost to you.

8 Bespoke Commissions

Bespoke and custom commission work is governed by a separate Commission Agreement issued to you prior to commencement of work. The following provisions apply to all commission work unless superseded by that agreement:

  1. A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the agreed price is required to secure your commission and begin design work.
  2. Cancellation after deposit payment will result in forfeiture of the deposit. If materials have been purchased or work has commenced, further costs may be recoverable.
  3. Up to two rounds of design revisions are included at no charge. Further amendments may incur additional fees.
  4. The balance of payment is due before dispatch; work will not be released until payment is received in full.
  5. Bespoke pieces are excluded from the standard 14-day right of return except where they are faulty or not as agreed in the Commission Agreement.
  6. Lead times for bespoke work are estimates only and may extend due to the complexity of the piece or workshop demand.

9 Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including but not limited to text, photography, illustrations, shield designs, and the Shieldwright brand — is owned by or licensed to Shieldwright and is protected by applicable copyright law.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this website without my prior written consent. Personal, non-commercial sharing (e.g. linking to product pages) is permitted.

When you commission a bespoke piece, ownership of the physical item passes to you upon receipt of full payment. All design rights, drawings, and digital assets created by Shieldwright remain the property of Shieldwright unless explicitly transferred in writing.

10 Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.

Subject to the above, my total liability to you in connection with any order shall not exceed the price paid for the goods in question. I shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption.

Display & Collector Pieces

My shields are handcrafted historical reproductions intended for display and decorative use. They are not rated or warranted for use in live combat or situations where personal protection is required. Shieldwright accepts no liability for injury arising from use of products beyond their intended purpose.

11 Privacy & Data

I collect and process your personal data in accordance with my Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms by reference. By using this website or placing an order, you acknowledge you have read and understood how I handle your data.

I will never sell your personal data to third parties. I use your contact details solely to fulfil your order, respond to enquiries, and — if you have opted in — to send you occasional news from my workshop.

12 Governing Law

These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Poland. You and I both agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the competent Polish courts.

EU consumers may also have access to online dispute resolution via the European Commission ODR platform.

I reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. The date of the most recent revision is shown at the top of this page. Continued use of this website or services after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Material changes that affect existing orders or commissions in progress will be communicated to you directly.
