I design, build, and finish every shield by hand — from shaping and laminating the plywood or glued plank boards to sewing the leather rim and painting the heraldry. Every piece is a direct reflection of my craft.

shieldwright.eu grew from a lifelong fascination with medieval history, historical arms and craftsmanship.
Years spent around historical fencing, reenactment and medieval equipment shaped a simple belief: a shield should be more than an image on a wall. Its form, curvature, construction, weight and finish all matter.
Today, shieldwright.eu is an independent one-person workshop dedicated to creating distinctive shields for anyone looking for something genuinely individual.
Historical commissions begin with research. Surviving objects, period artwork and historical sources guide the construction — and where the evidence ends, interpretation is treated honestly as interpretation.

Today the workshop produces a wide range of handcrafted shields — from medieval-inspired kite and heater designs to fantasy, RPG, and gaming pieces. Every shield is made to be owned, used, and loved.
