Every shield hand-built to your specification by Shieldwright in Białystok, Poland.
Est. 2017
What began as one craftsman's passion for making has grown into a respected one-person workshop for handcrafted shields based in Białystok, Poland.
The Founding
Shieldwright began the way the best things do — with play. Michal B. had been acting out knights-and-dragons adventures with his daughters in their Białystok home when he realised the props were letting the story down. So he made them proper shields. The smile on their faces said everything. That feeling — of putting something into someone's hands that they had always wanted to own, or only ever dared to dream about — turned out to be the real engine behind it all. Crafting is the passion; making people happy is the point.
“I don't want to make decorative objects. I want to make something you actually want to hold — the weight, the grip, the feel of a shield that could have belonged to a real knight. That's what gets me to the workshop every morning.”— Founder & Head Craftsman
From those first shields made for his daughters, word spread through the LARP and re-enactment community. By 2019 a proper workshop was set up in Białystok — dedicated to producing handcrafted shields for reenactors, collectors, fantasy fans, and anyone who wants to hold something truly special.
Today the workshop produces a wide range of handcrafted shields — from medieval-inspired kite and heater designs to fantasy, RPG, and gaming pieces. Every shield is made to be owned, used, and loved, not displayed behind glass.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, a reenactor, a LARP or HEMA fighter, a fantasy fan, or simply looking for a truly unique gift — if it can be drawn and built, it can be made.
